About the Podcast

“Confessions of a New Grad” is an independent fiction podcast about a recent college grad’s misadventures in love and life.

When Brooklyn Winters graduates from university, she thinks that her adult life will “just kind of figure itself out.”

SPOILER ALERT: This doesn’t happen.

Six weeks after graduation, she has no job, no money, and is frantically calling her best friend to come and rescue her from the basement suite she has unwisely moved into with her dud of a boyfriend…

After a messy end to that relationship, Brooklyn is forced to enter this “real world” that everyone keeps sarcastically welcoming her to. She applies for, and is asked to do, jobs for which she is unqualified, struggles to find an affordable apartment in Vancouver’s expensive housing market, and navigates the world of modern dating.

I have a Bachelors of English Literature from The University of British Columbia, and am a self-taught podcaster. I’ve been in love with stories (particularly audiobooks) since I was a child, and have been writing since I was first able to string a sentence together. The idea for “Confessions of a New Grad” first came to me in 2018, while I was attempting to navigate life as a ‘new grad’ myself. I produced Seasons 1 and 2 independently, with Season 1 premiering in the spring of 2020.

In 2021 and 2022, I was awarded two grants from The Canada Council for the Arts for the production of Seasons 3 and 4.. I am currently producing a new fiction series funded by the Canada Council for the Arts (more details to come soon!). Watching this podcast grow into an (almost) full time career has been a dream come true, and I cannot thank the listeners of the show, as well as the Canada Council, enough for making this possible.
